Game Genie (Game Boy): Difference between revisions

The Game Genie is a runtime ROM modification device. This is one of the many Game Genie products available. This version of the game genie works only on the black and white Gameboy games and will not work on Gameboy color games. Originally all game genies required 9 digit cheat codes to be entered but later models only required the first six digits to be entered. But the last three digits are required for switching a specific ROM bank, so larger games could have a need for this.

There is a way to trick the game genie into working with Gameboy color games but it can damage the cartridge. Click here for more info.

The Gameboy Game Genie also is only compatible with the original Gameboy and the Pocket Gameboy. If inserted into the Super Gameboy it will play games at half speed. A special adapter was created that allows the Game Genie to work on the Super Gameboy fortunately.
